On 31st July, 2019 Center for Agricultural and Environmental Studies (CAES) of the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Cambodia, conducted the 5thTraining Replication on “Biodiversity and Climate Change Economy”. The training is apart of the REACT project (http://www.climate-react.eu/), which is fundedunder ERASMUS+ KA2-CBHE.The training was participated by RUA’s academic staffs, lecturers, researchers who are working climate change and related issues, and students from relevant faculties. The objectives of this training are: 1) To provide the concept of the biodiversity and the impact of the climate change on biodiversity,2) To show the impact of climate change on the economy,3) To provide the tool to calculate emission removal factor from mangrove forest.
The replication training was chaired by Dr. Houn Thavrak, Dean of Graduate School of RUA. He gave his appreciation to all participants who join the training and also added this training is very useful for disseminating the impact of climate change on biodiversity and economy. REACT will provide capacity building and awareness raising amongst academia including lecturers, students, young researchers and relevant partners on climate change at higher education institution.
As a result, 65 participants (30 female) jointed the training. The training was actively by asking questions, sharing concern among the participants and fruitful discussion. In addition, they expressed their appreciated that they will have REACT unit where they could access the relevant documents, teaching material, consulting on climate change, particularly supporting students on proposal writingand it will be very helpful for their real work.
